Removing Road Salts in Eagle, Idaho | Exterior RV Detailing

Hey guys, Brian with Limelight Detailing in Eagle, Idaho. And today I just wanted to show you a little bit about RV washing and what we do with our RV washing service. So this is a beautiful Tiffin RV that just came up from California that I wanted to show you how road salt gets caked onto the exterior of RV’s.

What Limelight Detailing Specializes In

If your RV has got a lot of this going on, these are some of the nasty road salts that get caked onto the exterior of RVs. And this is what we specialize in removing. Anytime that we wash an RV or do our wash and wax service, this is something that we can remove for you. If you look down here, you can really see on the compartment bins, just how bad this road salt is. It’s a sodium based product that they use on the highways coming up from California and all over here in the Midwest and West coast.

Is Your RV Looking a Little Rough?

If your RV’s looking a little rough, give us a call today. We’d love to get that removed for you. You can check out either our RV wash service or our RV wash and wax. We can get this removed and get your RV looking its best. So give us a call at 208-391-3455 or book now.

Limelight Removes Tree Sap from Cars

Hey guys, Brian here with Limelight Detailing in beautiful Boise, Idaho. Today I want to show you a little bit about cleaning windshields, side mirrors, and all kinds of glass on a vehicle. You’ve seen some of our other videos where I demonstrated how to remove water spots. I’ve got a quick demo for some awesome Norwex microfiber towels.

Limelight Packages and Process

In this part of southern Idaho, we have a lot of trees that I believe are called juniper berry trees. Many times, people park beneath these trees and the wind can knock these little berries off onto your car, which crush into your paint. They get all over the surface. Look closely and you can see these brown specks all over. This mixture of sap and berries can be really difficult to get off if you don’t have the right tools, so today I’m going to demonstrate our resolution. We include this method in three of our Limelight Detail Packages:

  1. Exterior Detail Package
  2. Classic Detail Package
  3. Limelight Detail Package.

STEP 1

Today, this customer had to park under this tree here, and the berries created a mess on their car. To begin, we simply rinse off the surface. Any time you detail the outside of a car, your first step is to get it wet.

STEP 2

After you get the topcoat of debris off, the next step is to pressure wash. It is really important to dial down the pressure when you pressure wash. Applying too much pressure when you have things stuck on your paint like this can easily strip your paint and cause chips all over. So, pressure wash with caution and patience. Today I’m using 2000 PSI to work over the car in small sections.

PSI tip

I typically work with about 2000 PSI, sometimes I even dial it down to about 1500 PSI. You really don’t need that much pressure to remove this kind of stuff and the last thing you want to do is turn it up too high.

STEP 3

Next, spray the surface with a clay lubricant or any quick detail spray. This stuff here is the “Optimum No Rinse” and it is great for detailing the outside of your car.

STEP 4

Use a clay bar, like the Mother’s brand speed clay bar I have here, to simply scrub the paint, kind of like if you exfoliate your skin. I love the Mother’s Brand bar because it lasts a long time. Use this clay bar to pull out any embedded berry or sap from the paint. This creates a smooth surface for us to polish.

STEP 5

Once we’ve done that, review your surface and see how much is gone. You might have to go over it several times. The goal is to create a nice, clean, fresh surface to polish.

Limelight is Here to Help

We love to help people so if you have tree sap or anything on the outside of your paint and you’re not sure how to get it off, give us a call. We’d love to help you and your car shine again.

Using Norwex Microfiber Towels to Clean Your Windows in 2 Easy Steps

Hey guys, Brian here with Limelight Detailing in beautiful Boise, Idaho. Today I want to show you a little bit about cleaning windshields, side mirrors, and all kinds of glass on a vehicle. You’ve seen some of our other videos where I demonstrated how to remove water spots. I’ve got a quick demo for some awesome Norwex microfiber towels.

Norwex Towel Uses

These are great for cleaning interior and exterior windows on:

  • Trucks
  • RV’s
  • Boats
  • Any vehicle with glass

Two Towel System Benefits

Traditionally we use a clean microfiber towel and a window cleaner such as Maguire’s all-purpose window cleaner, or something that is ammonia free to avoid harming any tinting that may exist, but these Norwex towels are awesome and do not need any chemical assistance.
Norwex produces all sorts of rags that can clean all kinds of interior surfaces for your home as well as your vehicle, but today I want to showcase the glass cleaning towels. They allow a simple process and when new, they even come damp and ready to use right out of the packaging.

Step 1: Dampen Norwex Microfiber Towel

The best time to perform a window cleaning is usually when it’s a bit warmer, particularly the glass itself. In this first step I soak a microfiber towel in just enough water to simply dampen it so I can wipe, as if you are buffing the glass.

Step 2: Shammy off the excess

The second step is to use a little shammy, such as the purple one I am using here, to just wipe off the excess.

With only two easy steps, you can see why we love using and endorsing these Norwex microfiber towels. You get fantastic streak free results and there are no chemicals involved.

Removing Odors | Interior Auto Detailing

Hey guys, Brian here with Limelight Detailing in Meridian, Idaho. And today I just wanted to do a quick overview and demonstration of how we clean underneath car seats and really just show what it is that is and might be underneath your car seat. This particular customer has had a complaint about odor and smell coming from the inside of the car. They couldn’t figure out what it is. Who knows what this is or what’s been spilled under here. A lot of times odors can be trapped in your car in a number of different places. Usually it has to do with stuff that’s been spilled onto the carpet or under the seats. Odors can also get trapped in your ventilation system.

How to Remove Smells Permanently

I just want to show you how we clean up all of this mess, it looks like it’s some kind of food or drink under here, but it’s really necessary to get this cleaned up to remove the smell permanently. You can see this is underneath the driver’s seat and this is the air conditioning and heater vent. We’re going to clean up all of this area.

Step 1: Pretreating Interior Auto Carpets

The first thing we want to do is get a pump action sprayer. I have a mixed in solution, you can see some of the products in other video demonstrations that we use so I won’t go over that in this video, but you can see what we do. We’re going to pretreat the whole area so I’m spraying this now. We’re going to get this whole area pretty saturated. You don’t have to completely soak it, but you want to get a nice mist over everything so you can be pretty liberal with it. I’ve got the whole area treated with our pre-treatment, it’s a shampoo but also there’s some additives to get rid of odor.

Step 2: Agitate Auto Carpet with a Carpet Brush

The next thing I’m going to do is get a little carpet brush, and I’m going to just agitate this into the carpet. What this is doing is it’s mixing all of our products, all of our cleaning agents into the carpet fibers. It’s breaking down the odor, it’s also working as a shampoo and actually cleaning the carpet. If I could describe to you what this smells like through a video I would but It’s not great.

Three Main Properties of Interior Auto Cleaning

There’s three main properties of cleaning. This might sound a little nerdy, but basically what those three properties are is:

  1. Chemicals – What chemicals are you using to clean? We use organic chemicals for auto detailing. We try to use products that are safe for you, and also do a good job of cleaning.
  2. Pressure – How much pressure are you using to clean an object or a surface? Sometimes, that’s why the pressure washers are so popular. Why? Because the pressure blows and buffs whatever is in there out.
  3. Heat – So we’ve used our cleaner, we’ve applied some pressure with the brush and then most effectively, and most importantly is heat. This is why we emphasize so much in our videos and in our services that we use steam to sanitize things. It’s one thing to agitate which is what a lot of retailers will do is just extract this out with water or they may vacuum it out. We take it a little step further and use 345 degrees of steam, which is a lot. It’s very, very hot and that’s going to break down anything that’s built up.

Final Step & Why You Should Steam Clean Interior Auto Surfaces

We’ve got everything broken down. My next step would be to extract this out of the carpet. I’m not going to do that in this demonstration, I just want to show you how we break things up in carpet and why steam is so important. It’s sanitizing surfaces, which with everything going on right now, we don’t want people to get sick, so one of the best ways you can help yourself and boost your immune system is to clean and sanitize the surfaces that you’re in constantly, which your vehicle is obviously one of those places.

Exterior Sealant Limelight Detailing Uses

Hey guys, Brian here with Limelight Detailing in Meridian, Idaho and today I want to talk to you about the exterior product that we use in our Limelight package, as well as the same product that we use on boats and RVs. We often get asked at Limelight what the type of products are that we’re using and putting on your vehicle, so I want to answer those questions for you.

Chemical Guys Jet Seal | Auto Detailing Product

We have chosen to use Chemical Guys as our main line of products that we use. They’re a wonderful product line. We use those on our interior and exterior detailing services, as well as on all of our boats and RVs. What Limelight uses is Chemical Guys Jet Seal and this is the primary sealant that we use on all of our boats and RVs as well as our vehicles when we’re doing our Limelight package. So this is the highest level of sealant that we apply to your paint.

How Long Does Chemical Guys Jet Seal Last?

This stuff lasts between six and 12 months, depending on how clean you keep your vehicle and whether you run your car through an auto wash or not. If you’re someone that’s washing your vehicle by hand, or if you have a vehicle that’s stored properly parked inside and doesn’t sit outside much in the elements, it can last up to 12 months. It’s a wonderful product. This is a synthetic sealant, so this is not a wax. There’s a big difference between the two. You can check out some of our other videos where I explain what the main difference is between a sealant and a wax, but this is a 100% synthetic sealant. So this is going to bond your paint really well and provide the most durable amount of protection as possible.

Auto Detailing in Nampa, Idaho

If you’re looking to get your paint the best protection going into winter, this is the stuff to put on your vehicle. You can have this put on by selecting our Limelight package, or if you have a boat or RV, this is what we’re going to put on there. You can check out those services on our website or you can give us a call or book online.

Removing Water Spots From Your Vehicles Windows

Hey guys, Brian here with Limelight Detailing in Boise, Idaho this morning. And we’re out here on a job trying to get some really tough water spots off of glass. This is something that we run into a lot here in Southern Idaho where you get a lot of mineral buildup. It’s hard to see in the sun here, but I’ll try to get a better angle. You can see it all around here.

Why Does Your Vehicle Get Water Spots in Southern Idaho?

A Lot of times people put their cars out in the driveway or park in the street where they get really hard irrigation water spots. There’s a lot of lime and calcium in the water here in Southern Idaho. So, if people go to wash their vehicles with city water, or they’re using irrigation water, it can really cause some serious buildup. Some other things that cause water spots on glass are the road salts that are put down for snow removal. And when that gets built up onto the glass, it can be really challenging to get it off.

Can You Use Household Cleaners to Remove Water Spots from Your Auto?

A lot of people will try to attempt to use household cleaners and other things to try to get it off. That’s a good thing to get it prepped for removal, but it’s going to be really tough to take these water spots off with just a brush. So there are a couple steps to it, and I just wanted to show you how we do that.

First Step When Removing Tough Water Spots

So the first thing is, I just have a bottle of vinegar right here. This is just straight vinegar. It’s not diluted at all. I prep everything by just spraying the windows down with that. Just show you a quick demo. So all I’m going to do is just brush it. And really all this is doing is just getting the surface clean. It’s definitely not going to remove the water spots, however. So we just get it clean. I’m going to take a fresh towel and wipe it. So as you can tell, that didn’t do anything, right? It didn’t clean anything. The water spots are still there. On this side, you can see where we’ve already done it. This side, we have not polished anything

Removing Water Spots | Product & Process

Now, I’m going to take my buffer, and here’s the product that I’m using. This is Chemical Guys V32 optical grade extreme compound. It’s just a fancy word for compound. This is what we use to take out major swirl marks in cars, but you can also use it as a water spot removal tool on some glass.

1. Apply the product onto a buffing pad.

The pad that I’m using is really aggressive, it’s a lamb’s wool pad. I’m going to blot some onto here, and you don’t have to be super fancy with it.

2. Once the product is applied to the pad turn the speed setting up super high, all the way to six.

3. Now grab your towel and just buff away the compound.

I’ll probably have to go over this one more time to get some of the stubborn spots off. But as you can see, it looks 10 times better.

How to Remove Water Spots From Your Auto’s Windows

So, that is how we get water spots off of glass. So if you’ve got some nasty water spots on your paint or on your glass, give us a call today, we’d love to get it done for you. (208) 391-3455, or check us out at limelightdetail.com.

Ceramic Coatings & Paint Correction Services

Hey guys, Brian with Limelight Detailing in Meridian, Idaho. Today, I just want to answer a couple questions and share a few thoughts about ceramic coatings and the technology behind it.

Does Limelight Detailing Offer Ceramic Coatings?

At Limelight, ceramic coatings are something that we have decided not to offer as of yet as there is a lot that goes into it. Being a mobile detailer and applying ceramic coatings to boats and RVs is something that’s really difficult to do when you can’t create a perfect environment.

How Weather Affects Ceramic Coatings

When you’re dealing with the weather and exposed to the elements, it can be difficult to apply a ceramic coating. Especially with the huge changes in temperatures in Southern Idaho. I mean, we have extreme colds and extreme heat. It can get down to zero degrees and all the way up to 110 degrees here in Boise.

New Ceramic Coating Technology

Ceramic coatings are a fairly new technology. It’s been around for about 10 years, and it’s really gained popularity in the last five years or so. Personally, we have just decided to, as a business, not offer it, partially because of the warranties that are behind the product. A lot of manufacturers are only offering two, five, and even seven and 10-year warranties on their product. It’s something that we’ve just decided to wait and see on the technology to see if it’s worth the investment for our customers.

Does Limelight Detailing Offer Paint Correction Services?

We do offer a paint correction service. So if you have any work that needs done before you apply a ceramic coating by maybe another detail shop, or even have it professionally done at a dealership, we can provide the paint correction process such as:

● Polishing
● Minor Scratch Removal
● Prep for Your Vehicle to Ensure Proper Application

Do You Need Paint Correction or Exterior Detailing Services?

If you need some exterior detailing work done, or if you’d like a sealant applied to your paint, that is something that we offer as well. You can check all of that information out on our website, under our exterior detailing page, as well as our classic detail and our Limelight detail. All of those services have exterior components with it and provide information about what we do to service your vehicle on the exterior. Give us a call today, (208) 391-3455. Hey guys, Brian with Limelight Detailing in Meridian, Idaho. I just want to say thank you so much to all of our customers this year. We’ve had a fantastic year and it’s all because of you guys. Thank you for supporting a local business. We really appreciate it.

Expectations for Auto Details in Winter

We want to talk about what the expectations are going into the winter. We are getting pretty cold outside, the weather is starting to turn a little bit, but we still are detailing. And we want to just let that be known to all of our customers and anyone that’s looking to have their car, truck, or boat, or RV detailed.

Do You Need Your RV Detailed?

We are still doing some RV washing. It is kind of hit or miss depending on the weather. As long as it’s above freezing, that’s something that we can do for you. We are recommending that we just wash your RV for right now, when it is freezing temperatures, it can be really difficult for the wax to adhere properly to the unit if that’s something you still need to have done before it goes into storage for the winter.

Interior Auto Detailing

Secondly, for vehicles, it’s the same thing. We are really focusing on interior detailing right now. If you do have exterior work that needs done, such as washing and polishing, we can wash your vehicle, but going into the winter, it can be difficult once again with the temperature. So just be aware of that. When you go to schedule your appointment, maybe take a look at the weather and if the weather is going to be above 32 degrees, it is something that we can do for you. If it’s not, it’s going to be a little challenging.

How to Get Your Auto Detailed in Winter

So please feel free to reach out to us with any questions regarding the weather, or regarding what we’re doing right now. As far as our service, you can give us a call at 208-391-3455, or book your appointment online at www.limelightdetail.com

Applying an Interior Dressing | Interior Auto Detailing

Hey guys, Brian here with Limelight Detailing and I’m out here in Star, Idaho today. And today we’re doing a GMC 1500, and I just wanted to show you a quick demonstration and explain to you what we do on the inside of a vehicle when we’re applying dressing, and why it’s important and really the benefits of dressing.

Quick Tip for Applying an Interior Dressing

One thing I want to mention is when you apply dressing you want to make this the final step and after everything is cleaned, wiped down and steam cleaned. So we’ve wiped everything down here and steam cleaned, which is really important.

Why You Should Avoid Cheap Products

A lot of times people will on their own vehicles just spray some armor all or some cheap product on there. For two reasons you want to avoid that.

  1. Armour-All or a similar cheap product is terrible and doesn’t protect.
  2. It’s also going to smear and not last as long if you haven’t actually cleaned it really well.

Step #1 & What Interior Dressing Products Do We Use?

This is a pretty common door panel, we’ve got some hard plastic here and then also some rubber material. So the first step is cleaning it really, really nice, getting it nice and prepped to apply the dressing. So two different things that we used when we were applying dressing to any door panel or on the interior of anything. Limelight Detailing uses Chemical Guys VRP and Quick Shot, we also sometimes switch that out for Chemical Guys Black on Black.

Chemical Guys VRP | Interior Auto Dressing

I love to use Chemical Guys VRP, which stands for vinyl, rubber and plastic. So this is mostly an interior use product, but you can use it on some parts of the exterior. So what we do is:

  • Take a couple pumps here and apply it to the applicator pad.
  • I apply it to one center place, so just build it up a little bit there, get it nice and work it into the pad.
  • Then just apply it in broad strokes over the entire surface.

So it looks really good, but the biggest benefit of having dressing is that it keeps it from cracking and fading. It’s basically sunscreen for your plasticvinyl and rubber. This will typically last a couple of weeks. It’s a really nice product.

Why Does Limelight Detailing Use Chemical Guys VRP?

What Limelight Detailing loves about this product is it dries to the touch, it’s not oil based. And so when you’re applying dressing on the inside of a vehicle, typically you want to buy a product that is either silicone or water-based on the inside of your vehicle. If you buy oil-based, it’s really going to smear and it will transfer to your clothes and skin a lot of times. So what I love about this product is that it’s dry to the touch, it won’t transfer to your clothes or fingers.

How to Reach Hard to Reach Areas? | Interior Auto Dressing

When we are applying the interior auto dressing and we have some hard to reach areas we can switch over to this which is an aerosol dressing. This is called Quick Shot. There’s a lot of them out there but Chemical Guys also makes a great product called Black on Black. You can find a lot of great aerosol dressings, but what I like about aerosol dressing is that it gets in all these hard to reach areas. So you can just do a quick spray here to reach these nooks and crannies. You don’t want to overlap with the application dressing but for hard to reach areas we use the aerosol dressing.

How to Get an Interior Dressing for Your Auto

That is just a quick demonstration and a reason why we apply dressing. It looks really good, it also preserves the life of your plastic, vinyl and rubber on the inside of your vehicle. So this is a part of all of our interior detailing services in all of our packages. All the way from our basic interior to our classic detail, mini detail, as well as our full limelight detail, you’ll get a dressing on the interior of your vehicle. So if that’s something you need done, you can book online at limelightdetail.com or give us a call at 391-3455.
