Hey guys, Brian with Limelight Detailing in Boise, Idaho. Today, I’m going to show you how we remove stickers off of the back of glass or on a windshield. Most of the time, people aren’t putting stickers on their windshield, but if you have stickers on your:

- Back Windshield
I’m going to show you how you remove it.
What to Use if You Don’t Have a Steam Cleaner
A lot of people haven’t invested in a steam cleaner. That’s pretty normal. Most people aren’t going to use that. A question we get a lot is, “Can I remove a sticker with a hair hairdryer or heat gun?”. The answer is yes. If you have extra time on your hands and you have one of those tools, you can remove stickers. The main thing when you’re trying to remove a sticker off a vehicle is you have to apply heat to melt the adhesive that’s on the bottom of it.
Where to Find a Heat Gun
If you don’t have a heat gun, you can buy one from:
- Amazon
- Nearly Any Automotive Store
- Some Craft Stores
You just want to be able to melt the adhesive on the bottom so you’re able to peel the sticker off.
How Limelight Detailing Removes Stickers from Vehicles
Today, I’m going to show you how we do it with a steam cleaner. What I have at the tip of this is a chisel tip. It kind of mimics a razor blade, which you can try to use to get stickers off. I prefer to use it on a steam cleaner. The number one thing that I’m trying to do here is melt the adhesive and peel it off in one motion as much as I can. I don’t want to sit there and etch the glass by going back and forth really quickly.
What to Do After the Sticker is Removed from the Auto
Once we’ve had the main sticker removed, you can see there’s some residue left over. What Limelight Detailing does is:
Step 1: Switch Tips
This is more abrasive, it’s a plastic tip brush. It isn’t metal or brass, obviously. If you do that, you’re going to mess up your glass.
Step 2: Use a Microfiber Towel to Minimize Friction
What I like to do is cause as little friction as possible between the brush bristles and the glass by covering it with a microfiber towel when I go back and forth over the sticker.
Step 3: Clean the Glass
Once most of the residue is gone we go back over the glass with Windex or some sort of glass cleaner to make it streak free.
