Details on How to Steam Clean Your Interior Liner
Hey guys! Brian here with Limelight Detailing in Meridian, Idaho. Today I’m going to make a quick demonstration of how we steam clean a headliner. If you are an auto detailer or is somebody that has tried to clean the inside of your car you will know that the headliner is one of the most difficult places to reach.
We actually get this question quite a bit: “Is the headliner one of the surfaces that you clean?” Absolutely! We try to do our very best to get that clean for you.
What to Be Careful of When Steam Cleaning Auto Liner?
If you look at the inside of this car, I’m detailing the inside of a Cadillac Escalade today, you can see we have quite a bit of coffee stains. It’s either coffee or chocolate. Something like that. I’m just going to do a quick demonstration of how we clean that.
Before I get into, though, I do just want to make a note that, whenever you’re cleaning a headliner, you want to be sure to not use too much liquid or too much cleaner.
A lot of the inside of vehicles it’s just simply — the headliner is composed of just, either felt or canvas material, followed up by a little piece of particle board. If you get the inside of that too wet or too damp you’re going to leave permanent watermarks because that particle board that’s underneath of there is going to absorb all of that moisture and it’s going to make it very difficult to get that stain permanently removed.
How Limelight Detail Steam Cleans Interior Liner
What we like to do is, I have my steam cleaner here and I have an upholstery cleaning tool attachment, what I like to do is take a microfiber towel and just attach to my cleaner tool, like this.
If you have — So, I have a spray bottle, the product that I have on the inside of here, and if you look at some of our other videos, we use a product called On Guard from doTERRA. This is what we use to clean the entire inside of your car. I just take the setting on my spray bottle to a mist, you wanna just get as little liquid as possible on here. Just give it a nice — you wanna make sure it’s on. Give it just a nice spray.
Personally, I don’t even agitate this because you can really get it permanently set in and make it even more difficult to remove. I have my steam cleaner here, just get it going a little bit, It really doesn’t take a lot of moisture to get that out. As you can see, the stains are gone. We would follow up this process on the entire inside of the headliner.
